Your Privacy

Your privacy is of utmost importance to us and none of the information collected by the statistical tools of Google Analytics or any other tools we may use will be sold to third parties. Outlined below are some ways that information may be collected.

Disclosure on Log Files, Cookies, Web Beacons and Other Statistical Tools

We utilize Google Analytics as a tool to gauge the effectiveness of certain posts and to help us improve future posts. We may employ additional third-party networks in future. Technologies (such as cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons) may also be used by the third-party ad networks to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and/or to personalize the advertising content that you see. Right now theBobbery does not use any advertising on the site.

At no point is it required to create an account on theBobbery, but to comment it is required to use a valid email address. Email addresses are checked against the database of Akismet.com to provide a first level of spam filter. theBobbery also uses makes use of the gravatar.com in order to provide commenter avatars for those who have registered with the service. Both services are owned by Automattic, whose privacy policy can be read here. theBobbery uses Disqus comment system but only the comment feature of the Disqus platform, not the social discovery across domains. Your email address is stored in the database and a cookie is used to recognize your computer and ease data input during further comments.

Here at theBobbery we offer 3 social sharing options. Click the following links to visit the privacy policies of all three options, as written by their subsequent provider: Facebook, Google+, Twitter.
It is important to understand that theBobbery has no control over policies and cookies or beacons placed by those networks.
If you do not wish those networks to possibly track your online behavior when logged in to their services, make sure to use a modern, updated browser and to set the browser settings to no track. If you use Google Chrome browser, you can use the Chrome do not track extension.

We will continue to update this page when new services are added to the site, and link to their respective privacy policies. At no point will we implement any service which requires more any identifying information or requires you to login to read any content on theBobbery. Your privacy is our reputation.

Disclosure on Advertisements

At this point, no advertising service on theBobbery is used, not in the least because we do not like most of the actual advertising implementations we can see online. Fervent users of the Adblock browser extensions, we do not want to subject our readers to what we do not like ourselves. If at any point theBobbery will make use of on-site advertising, we will make sure to continue to highlight our content and not turn the site into an advertising board, hiding the content.

Advertisements powered by a third party advertising network can not be controlled by us. We do strive to block ads which do not reach the quality standard we aim for. Advertisements served by third party networks are mainly delivered via Javascript and do not influence any SEO factor. theBobbery will not publish paid for links in the content.

Additionally theBobbery will only work with advertising networks which have committed to honor Do Not Track.

Often we receive products to be reviewed. These products will be disclosed as such. At no moment in time will any of theBobbery team keep these items longer than needed to properly review the product. No writer will ask for any monetary or other compensation in exchange for a favorable review. If aware of any such offense by a theBobbery team member, please do contact us with the highest priority and we will investigate these claims with the highest priority.
If any of our authors is found guilty of accepting compensation in return of a favorable review, or to place a link, we will immediately terminate the collaboration with the writer, and add an additional disclaimer to all entries written by that writer.

Due to the high volume in requests we receive we are not able to review and cover each request. Our articles are based on the personal opinion of our writers, in adherence with our ethical policy.

Site advertising matters are dealt with by the advertising team. The advertising team has no editorial influence and is entirely independently. At times we may run experimental ads, also thanks to our close relationship with several agencies in the Philippines. Often these ads will be used as test run for the agency, advertising brand, and may also be accompanied with a poll about the ad. theBobbery will disclose these ads in a follow up entry, and not be compensated for these.

Disclosure on Moderation

We welcome discussion to the site, both via content submission and comments. We moderate the comments published on this site. In accordance with the “Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012″ we do not allow and actively delete defamatory comments.

Comments on theBobbery are reactively moderated.

  • First time commenters: First time commenters to theBobbery will need to be manually approved before comments will show. Our team actively checks all new comments several times per day and approves new comments on a regular basis.
  • Reactive moderation: Comments which are offensive, promote hate speech or violent behavior will be removed. If you notice a comment that you think may break one of the rules, please use the ‘Complain about this comment’ link to alert us. Comments which have been reported two times will automatically be hidden until a moderator checked the comment.
  • Curse language:: Curse language will be removed by our team, and if needed we will delete the complete comment.
  • Word filters: We do not moderate comments based on a word-filter, but use Akismet to automate comment spam control.

Disclosure on Embeds and Links

Where possible we try to use embeds rather than quotes. In some events we may decide to also use an additional screenshot of the source[1] in order to replace if the original tweet was deleted. We will only do so when this approach is compliant with the users privacy settings. If the source changed its privacy settings after publication, we will let the record stand and append an additional disclaimer about the changes.

Our team actively links out to other sites, and sources. We have no control over the content of the sites we link to and content may be changed after we linked to the site. Sometimes websites are deleted and links may be broken. In those events we will let the record stand. External links will be indicated with this icon .
We do not link to sites which contain harmful or illegal content.
